“I’m the Wasting Time Daybed.
My ancestors were sneakers
and I’m genderless.
I speak my own language,
no rules or constraints.
I’m entirely made of upcycled plastic.
you can easily take me apart;
my body joints are removable,
and renewable.
At first sight perhaps,
I’m difficult to be liked.
but I dare you.”
This playful rendition of a modern daybed recalls the soul and style of a sneaker. Entirely composed of recycled PET plastic, the Wasting Time Daybed is a creation for the 2019 Milan Design Week, the Guiltless Plastic Project and RO Plastic Master’s Pieces Exhibition, curated by Rossana Orlandi, in collaboration with Moroso and MiniWiz. Inspiring, ironic, unusual, it sparks a conversation about modern evolution, complex and ever-changing habitat schemes and the necessity to reinvent and upcycle non-renewable materials, until a fully sustainable system is reached.
