Specifically designed for travellers, this chair is inspired by the chaise à palabra, a traditional African seat made from two pieces that fit together to form a portable chair. The principal design concept is executed by the wooden structure and leather seat, attached with snaps. An intertwining of contrasting leather strips, forming a net, enhances the whole, giving it a unique language. Furthering the discourse of Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades, research and inspiration for this chair stem from the history of design and everyday life. Raw materials and craftsmanship methods largely contribute to the rendering of this chair. The exterior part, the skin, becomes an integral part of the structure, the bones.
