The concept of the Kika stool, for Mabeo, is inspired by a fusion of African and European cultures. Made out of iroko, a kind of teak from Botswana, its design evolves front the bollard, an anchor used to moor large ships. The primitive T-shape draws further inspiration and its name from the kika, a traditional marble mortar used for cooking. The hollow core of the stool also allows it to be used as a percussion instrument.
