Chasen, for Flos, draws its inspiration from an ancient oriental ustensile, central to the tea ceremony: the bamboo whip, whose delicate filaments keeps changing shapes. The fascinating method of slicing bamboo into fine longitudinal strips has been industrially adapted, thanks to a sophisticated chemical erosion technology: after bending, a steel sheet is transformed into a polymorphous luminous object. The user adapts at will the various adjustments of intermitting bands of light and matter, from more compact and oblong to airier and lighter.
