Room Mate Giulia opened in Milan in 2014, near Piazza del Duomo and the Vittorio Emanuele gallery. Through the use of archetypical local materials and elements, it reflects the city in its colours, materials, images, its irony and the mix of languages. The lobby floor is made of pink marble, like the Duomo. Terracotta bricks, another Milanese feature, create a 3D effect on a curved wall in the lobby. Recurrent geometric patterns reflect the rigour of the city, repeated references to the graphic arts pay homage to its cultural history. The hotel’s 85 rooms, divided into 5 categories, diffuse a typical Italian domestic sensation, both essential and familiar.
