Molteni Tokyo Showroom
Tokyo2015

Molteni&C’s flagship store in Tokyo opened in 2015, in the Aoyama district, bordering the Nezu Museum of Kengo Kuma. The design origin stems from a set of views of the Komyo-in temple in Kyoto: it inspired new, contemporary perspective filters between interior and exterior: the result is the 7-meter high wall in local cedar, focal point of the project. The relationship of Molteni&C and architect Gio Ponti sparked a rediscovery of geometries: his graphic sense of details was reinterpreted in the context of the Japanese interior project. The result is dual: creating full-height screens in stopsol glass, separating rooms in a light manner, and a fusion of Japanese traditional style and Italian design.
